Las Perlas

Feb 3rd, 2025 Jayne Destinations, Sailing

Now that Scout was through the canal and in the Pacific, we spent some time hiding out in Las Perlas, a beautiful archipelago south of Panama City.

During the week we had the crystal blue waters and golden sands entirely to ourselves - the perfect opportunity to kayak over for a beach barbecue at dusk!

This particular island was used for some of the ‘Survivor’ TV shows, so we got right into character, with the sounds of the jungle all around us as we enjoyed my homemade burgers.

Another idyllic anchorage in Las Perlas was Isla Bayoneta. The rocks and coves reminded us a little of our time in Maine (way back in 2022!) - though there were no lobster pots here, and the water was slightly warmer to swim in!

We enjoyed many more beautiful Panamanian sunsets from the boat. It’s hard to get tired of these!

Back in the marina, we spotted these unmanned Saildrone units being serviced. We’ll see you out there!

Then it was time to get Scout ready for her next big passage. Gennaker on the front, hydrogenerator on the back, water tanks filled, and passports stamped… we were off on another adventure, south west to the Galápagos!
